At the midway point of the season, the Tennessee Titans have a lot to prove. Following an AFC championship appearance in season 24, the Titans had high expectations coming into the new year.
8 weeks into season 25, this team has been one of the bigger disappointments in the MBL. Sitting at 4-4 and in second place in the division, Tennessee will need to string together a big win streak to become relevant in the competitive AFC.
A perennial top 5 offense, is towards the bottom in almost every category and Marcus Mariota is having the worst season of his career. The 6 year $76.7M man, will really have to step up and improve on his 5 TD to 11 INT ratio for this team to have any chance to win.
On top of poor QB play, the Titans are struggling to get any kind of running game established. The RB position has been a carousel with neither back wanting to claim their right as the starter.
The one bright spot on this offense has been FA signing, Breshad Perriman, who leads the team with 34 catches, 529 yards & 2 TDs.
Considering the stats mentioned above, it is a miracle that this team is sitting at .500. The defense has battled through injuries but has been the driving force of this team. The captain of the defense, MLB Christian Kaeding, has been the MVP of this team through 8 weeks, with a league high 6 INTs.
SS Antoine Combs is also honorable mention for the team award and continues his push for DROY. The first round draft pick has 49 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 INTs, 9 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble, & 2 defensive touchdowns. He continues to impress the coaching staff and prove that he is a complete safety and one of the best playmakers in the league.
These next few weeks will be a gut check for the Tennessee Titans as they host the AFC Champion Chiefs, SB Champion Redskins, & travel to Dallas to play a 5-1-1 Cowboys team. If they are able to overcome adversity has yet to be seen, but soon we will learn what this Titans team is made of.
