The Bengals went into week 3 with a 1 and 1 record ready to square off against A familiar foe. The Bengals have not beaten the Ravens in their previous 3 attempts. It looked to be a tough task without their best offensive player. Joe Mixon will be sidelined for the next 8 weeks and this was the first game without him.
Bengals decided the best way to get after Lamar Jackson was with pressure. Consistent blitzing frustrated and confused the Ravens offense and produced 5 turnovers. Lamar Jackson looked terrible and the Ravens offense was in shambles.
The Bengals were able to capitalize off their defense with timely throws by Dalton to his top targets. AJ Green went off for 205 yards and a TD and rookie Marcus Green had 70 yards of his own with 2 TDs.
The Bengals jumped out to a 17 point lead in the 1st. The Ravens were able to battle back and took the game into OT after an amazing 96 yard drive to tie the game with 20 seconds left. However they eventually lost the game with the clock running out on them down 3 in the extra period.
The game came with a little controversy. After the loss the Ravens organization filed a formal complaint resulting in the suspension of Gio Bernard for running inside zone too often.
It was a great win for the Bengals and the suspension will give rookie Soso Jamabo a shot at some carries in their next game against the Rams.
There will be no undefeated season this time around.
