Texans @ Jags Recap

The first quarter saw both teams feeling each other out in a back and forth punt fest. But early in the 2nd quarter after a questionable fumble call on Blake Bottles the Texans recovered in Jags territory and just a few plays later Deshaun Watson took off for a 13 yard TD run. 7-0 Texans The rest of the second quarter was much like the first quarter with neither team doing much on offense but that again changed on a turnover when Bortles was picked off leading to another short Texans drive resulting in Watson finding seldom used Rookie TE Jordan Akins for an extremely quick release 3 yard TD pass with under a minute left in the half. 14-0 Texans. The Jags coaching staff got away from the game plan at this point and got over aggressive resulting in another interception from Bortles. This led to the Texans using the last few seconds of the half to set up for a Ka'imi Fairbairn FG to go into the half with a commanding lead. 17-0 Texans at the half. The 2nd half started with the Jags holding the Texans and getting the ball back quickly. The Jags finally started to get into rhythm and they got a drive going into Texans territory when they caught the Texans on another inside blitz with a toss to Fournette he could have walked to the end zone and basically did but for no reason at all his FB Algernon Brown decided to block someone in the back basically behind the play and the long TD run was called back. Then to make things even worse a couple plays later Bortles missed a streaking wide open DJ Chalk when he airmailed a throw 10 yards beyond the speedy rookie. This was basically the last ditch effort for the Jags to get back in this game as this seemed to deflate the entire team. The Texans took advantage of those two mistakes and drove down for another FG. 20-0 Texans. The Jags had one last desperate attempt in them driving all the way down to the 1 but on 3rd down the Texans broke up a pass to a pretty wide open receiver with a diving effort out of nowhere. Just to put points on the board and hope to make a play somewhere or somehow the Jags took the points with a short FG. 20-3 Texans The Jags never really did anything else to make a game of it and the Texans added on 2 more field goals to finish off their performance on the road with your final. 26-3 The Jags are at home again next week to take on 4-3 Eagles in desperate hopes of ending this losing streak heading into their bye week.
