The Jags visited Cleveland with both teams resting pretty much all of their top players. The Browns jumped out early on a 63 yard TD run by Jalen Richard. Rookie QB Eric Dungey making his 1st start answered right back on an efficient drive finding TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins on a short TD pass to tie it up at 7 apiece. The Browns then turned to the air attack themselves with Nic Shimonek dinking and dunking his way down the field eventually finding WR Kevin White for a TD to make it 14-7 Browns. After a Dungey Int which was really his only bad throw as he overthrew an open receiver over the middle the Browns Shimonek found WR Isaiah Ford on a short TD to go up 21-7. The Jags answered with a FG before the half to cut the deficit to 21-10. The Jaguars defense shutout the Browns in the 2nd half and after adding just another FG of their own in the 3rd quarter to make it 21-13. The "starters" where done and the 3rd and 4th string guys came in for the 4th quarter with a chance to win it. Neither team did much in the 4th quarter until the Jags got the ball back with just under 2 mins left and QB Christian Hackenberg the last hope. But Hackenberg found a grove showing off that cannon for an arm and drove the Jags down inside the 5 on a great throw on a deep out to WR Allen Lazard. Hackenberg then found backup TE Niles Paul with just a few seconds remaining to put the Jags in position to send it to OT. But needing a 2 pt conversion to tie it Hackenberg was picked off in the end zone and the onside attempt was recovered by Cleveland to end it with a final score of 21-19.
