Top 3 XCFL Running Backs so far this M20 Cycle
Saquan Barkley has flat out been a beast for far this cycle. Even if you take out his lackluster first season, he has averaged nearly 1800 yards rushing and over 20 rushing TD’s. That’s insane for a pass happy game that’s equally as hard to run the ball consistently. Barkley has won the previous 2 XCFL Most Outstanding Player Awards and is on pace to be a finalist and win his unprecedented 3rd straight. Not even Barry Brooks can say he’s done that.
Guice has been a stud the entire cycle when he’s been healthy. After a 1,700-yard campaign in his first season, he got hurt for 11 games in the 2nd season after starting the season on a tear and ending up with almost 800 yards in just 5 weeks. Last year he came in 2nd in the XCFL in rushing only behind Barkley. His 2,107 rushing yards were the most by any player not named Barkley this cycle. Guice is also off to a hot start this season averaging over 100 yards. Could this be the year he overtakes Barkley as the XCFL’s best runner?
This 3rd spot was a little tougher to choose. I went with Todd Gurley because he has been very consistent for the Super Bowl Champion Rams. Boone has changed his entire M-O to a run first, not make mistakes outfit. It shows when you look at his success and Gurley’s stat line. His 1839 yards put him 3rd in the XCFL last season after the previous season amassing almost 1,700 yards. The normal oft injured Gurley has stayed healthy and is top 3 because of it.
