The Cleveland Browns presason kicked-off off Saturday night vs the Philadelphia Eagles. Browns players seemed eager to get the season going and erase the memory of a tough home playoff loss last season. In 3 drives, Cleveland's first team offense put six points on the board and looked decent. However, two of the three drives stalled in the red zone. The Cleveland Browns head coach has been preaching finishing drives all season so he was obviously frustrated with only six points to show. Rookie wide receiver Alexander and quarterback Baker Mayfield seemed to have instant chemistry on the field. Alexander had a big debut for Cleveland hauling in five receptions for 152 yards. If early playing time is any indication, the Browns seem poised to start Alexander over Josh Gordon to start the 2020 season. Duke Johnson is another player who had a good start to the 2020 season. Duke rushed 19 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns while adding three receptions for 61 yards. Johnson is a very versatile back who's one cut running Style and hands out of the backfield offer Cleveland a big boost which most teams in the league do not have. Rumors are that Duke may see more snaps this year and eat into Chubb's workload. Cleveland had some other notable performances. Qb Woodside, who is competing for the backup role behind Mayfield, went 13 of 21 for 234 yards and a 100.0 QBR. Avery continue to build on his strong 2019 performance what's a 2 sack game. And last but not least, free agent pick up Clay Matthews had five tackles (one for loss), a sack and forced a fumble on special teams. The 2020 season is off to a strong start and the Browns will look to build on the momentum going into week two of the preseason against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
