The Patriots weren’t too quiet this trade deadline just like others. This deadline had a blockbuster come through New England. They gave up a big name fans a young prospect for a big name. Without anymore delay I give you the trade:
Minnesota Vikings Send:
New England Patriots Send:
That’s right, Harrison Smith is making his way to New England for his Patriots debut against the Bills. New England’s defense has took a major step backwards this season. Specifically in run defense. Smith will add some stability in both the run game and passing game. Even at the age of 32 Smith is still able to make an impact. It’ll be interesting to see if the coaching staff plugs in Smith at strong or free safety. With both Devin McCourty and Budda Baker currently in the safety position it’ll be interesting to see who ends up on the bench. One thing is for sure though, Harrison Smith will make a big difference for this Patriots defense.
Now to receive something you have to give something up. In this trade the Patriots give up their veteran corner AJ Bouye. Bouye is coming off one of his career best years at age 29. This season at age 30 he hasn’t been as shut down as previous years. But like Harrison Smith he can get it done. Also they send over young corner D’Andre Payne who has speed to burn but never cracked the Patriots lineup.
