Week 15 Shootout

The Colts went into Arrowhead Stadium to take on the very dangerous Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams were 8-5 coming in. Patrick Mahomes had been struggling with picks coming in, but this Colts defense knew they had to respect the Chiefs quarterback in order to beat him. The first defensive drive was the start that the team needed. The Colts were able to stop the Chiefs and the offense turned around and scored on their first drive. The Colts have had a hard time getting going, so to go up 7-0 with a defensive stop gave the team the comfort they needed moving forward. The Chiefs came back on their drive and scored. Both teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the first half with the Chiefs taking the lead into the half.

The third quarter was a slow one where both teams came together for just 3 points. The start of the 4th quarter was an explosion from the Colts. The team had scored 21 unanswered points in the first minute and a half in the final quarter. Johnathan Taylor started the scoring off and then the defense came up with two big turnovers that led to 14 points. The rout was on, the Colts were able to finish out the game on top 55-34.

Aaron Rodgers was brilliant once again in this one. Rodgers ended the game with 456 yards and 4 touchdowns with zero interceptions on 31 throws. Since returning from his suspension, the Colts are 3-1 and Rodgers has thrown 13 touchdowns to just  interception. He limited his mistakes and the running game was able to carry the load as well. The Taylor, Hines, Logan and Miller combined for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns. The running game has been lackluster at times this year with Taylor being the major workhorse. It was good to see a committee of guys get the job done in week 15.

The team finishes out with 3 tough divisional games. The division has been a tight race all season and the rest of the season proves to show the same theme. If the Colts can manage to win out, then they will have secured their place as the AFC East champions. If they falter, then they can be out of the playoffs entirely. Rodgers needs to continue to light the lamp and the defense has to continue to take the ball away. The team seems to be coming together at the right time to end the year, can they ride this momentum and use it to make a playoff run?
